Supporting and investing in mental health research

A wider and deeper knowledge of the causes of mental illness facilitates an acceleration in diagnosis and treatment.

Research into mental health conditions will ultimately improve the lives of those who suffer, their families and their carers. Research also looks at ways in which we can prevent the onset of mental health conditions and identifies who is more at risk of developing these illnesses.

Typically, money invested in to mental health research is relatively small in comparison with the high numbers of people suffering from mental illness. Many charities support people with mental illness but far fewer fund research.  We want to change that so mental health research is as prevalent as research in to physical illnesses such as cancer, heart conditions and diabetes.

The Shaw Mind Foundation co-funds research projects with other mental health charities in the UK, US and across the globe.

Our projects are not possible without your generous support. Please help us make an amazing difference for the next generation.
