Breathe:Youth provides support and guidance for children and young people, by young people.
Working closely with schools in the local area, the Breathe:Hub gives them a space where they can meet at the start of the school holidays, discuss any concerns they have with our volunteers or with peer mentors.
During term time, from September 2019, Breathe:Youth will provide pop-up sessions within local schools to allow the children and young people to come along and see what support is available to them, how we can help, and make them aware of the work we are trying to do in the local area.
We also want to encourage those who care for a parent or carer with mental illness to come forward and ask for advice and support if they need it. Encouraging young people to come to us is likely to be a much more effective way of finding and helping individuals who care for a parent with mental illness.
Breathe:Youth will allow us to actively promote and encourage open conversations around mental health, from a peer to peer perspective and offer support and information to those who need it.
